About A Silver Lining
Geriatric Care Management Rooted in Experience, specialized education, and Compassion
A Silver Lining was founded by Kelly Iceton, MS, CMC, an independent geriatric care manager with three decades of experience in geriatric healthcare, including dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and complex aging conditions. After many years of watching older adults slip through the cracks and struggling through her father’s cancer battle from across the country, Kelly built something different: a concierge care management business where older adults feel empowered, and families feel supported.
A Message from Our Founder, Kelly Iceton
The Story Behind A Silver Lining
A Silver Lining didn't start in a boardroom or from a business plan. It started with a subtle recognition of the need for geriatric care management services and evolved into a passionate call to action.
I had spent decades working in medical settings. I understood healthcare systems. I knew the language, the protocols, the people. But when my father was diagnosed with cancer in another state, none of that expertise could erase the fear, the distance, or the overwhelming weight of trying to help him from afar.
I'll never forget the difficulty with trying to reach the physicians directly to discuss the prognosis or treatment options, and the moments I wondered if he was really okay or just telling me he was. I wasn't just his daughter anymore; I was his advocate, his translator, his care coordinator, his voice when I was too far away to help him navigate through this difficult journey.
And I realized something that changed everything: if this was hard for me, someone who worked in healthcare, it must be impossible for families without that background. And even more challenging for older adults navigating the system on their own.
That's when I knew what I had to do.
You don't have to carry this alone. Let A Silver Lining help.

Kelly's Journey to Aging Life Care™
From Medical Professional to Advocate
Kelly spent close to three decades working with older adults in medical and care settings. She managed a surgical practice, coordinated complex care, and worked alongside physicians, nurses, and specialists who genuinely care about their patients.
But she also saw the gaps.
Kelly saw older adults rushed through appointments because the system moved too fast. She saw people nodding along to medical jargon they didn't understand, too intimidated to ask questions. She saw discharge plans that missed critical information or fell apart at home. She saw people slipping through the cracks, not because anyone was negligent, but because the system moves too quickly and doesn't have time to see the patient as a whole person.
And she kept thinking: Someone needs to step in. Someone needs to be the bridge between the medical world and the real world. Someone needs to advocate for the person, not just the patient.
So she became that someone.

Expert in Aging
Kelly's Education and Expertise
Kelly didn't want to just rely on experience. She wanted to be the best advocate older adults and families could have, so she pursued advanced education in aging sciences/gerontology, and Aging Life Care™:
- Master of Science in Aging Sciences – University of South Florida
- Care Manager Certified (CMC) – National Academy of Certified Care Managers
- Advanced Professional Member – Aging Life Care Association® (ALCA)
- Graduate Certificate in Geriatric Care Management – University of Florida
- ALF CORE Trained – Assisted Living Facility Administrator Training, Florida
- Florida Department of Elder Affairs 701B Assessment – Comprehensive Training for Long-Term Care Evaluations
These credentials represent many years of education and training on how aging affects the body, the mind, and the family system. They represent her commitment to understanding dementia, chronic illness, medication safety, caregiver burnout, end-of-life planning, and everything in between.
But most importantly, they represent her promise: that every older adult and family who trusts us will receive the highest level of expertise, compassion, and dedication.

Why Kelly Believes in This Work
Because Every Older Adult Deserves to Be Seen
Kelly brings decades of hands-on expertise to some of the most difficult moments families face. She advises families during critical hospital decisions, leads dementia care planning and placement strategy, and provides immediate guidance when urgent situations arise.
She's also worked with older adults who are navigating complex medical decisions on their own and want an expert advocate in their corner but don't want to lose their independence or burden their families.
And in every one of those moments, she sees her own story reflected back.
She does this work because she believes deeply that no one should have to navigate aging alone. Not the older adult facing decline. Not the older adult who wants to stay in control of their own healthcare. Not the family trying to hold everything together. Not the long-distance daughter who feels helpless. Not the exhausted spouse caring for a partner with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
Every older adult has a story. They were someone's child once. They built careers, raised families, survived hardships, and celebrated victories. They deserve to be seen as the whole, complex, beautiful human being they are - not reduced to a diagnosis, a chart, a problem to solve, or a body in a hospital bed.
And everyone navigating aging, whether for themselves or someone they love, deserves an advocate who cares deeply about their goals and wellbeing.

A Silver Lining's Approach to Care
Personalized, Proactive, and Rooted in Relationships
Geriatric care management isn't about checking boxes or following protocols. It's about understanding people.
When we work with you, we take the time to truly know you, your history, your goals, and your concerns. Whether you're an older adult planning for your own future or a family member coordinating care for a loved one, we listen deeply to what matters most to you and what weighs on your mind. We pay attention to what you're not saying out loud, because sometimes the hardest things to express are the ones that need the most support. Because of our expertise in aging, we also notice subtle things that can be overlooked to the untrained eye, but are important pieces of the overall puzzle.
Here's what our approach looks like in practice:
Thoughtful Evaluation Comes First
We start with a detailed intake and assessment process that includes in-depth conversations and professional insight. This approach helps us identify key factors affecting care so recommendations are rooted in expertise and what truly supports long-term well-being.
We Coordinate, Not Just Recommend
We don't hand you a list and wish you luck. We make the calls, attend the appointments, follow up with providers, and ensure every piece of the care plan is actually happening, while keeping everyone on the same page.
We Prevent, Not Just Respond
We identify risks early, before they turn into crises. Our goal is to keep you or your loved one stable, safe, and independent for as long as possible.
We Stay Involved
We’re not a one-time consultant. We’re your partner for the long haul. As long as you need support, we’re here.
We Advocate Fiercely
When something doesn't feel right, whether it's a medication change, a discharge plan, or a facility recommendation, we speak up. Our loyalty is to you and your loved one, always.

What Makes A Silver Lining Different
Independent, Local, and Deeply Personal

We're fully independent.
We don't work for hospitals, insurance companies, or senior living facilities. We're not constrained by institutional timelines or corporate quotas. Our only allegiance is to you.
Local Expertise.
Kelly has lived in the Tampa Bay area for over 30 years. She knows the local hospitals, senior living communities, home health agencies, rehabilitation centers, and medical providers. She knows which facilities deliver on their promises and which ones don't. That local knowledge protects you and your loved ones in ways a national company never could. This includes families seeking guidance around dementia care, memory loss, and Alzheimer’s-related planning when distance makes involvement difficult.
That deep local knowledge protects families in meaningful ways. It also forms the foundation of broader advocacy work that supports families navigating care from anywhere in the country.
We keep Our caseloads small.
Every client receives our direct attention and involvement. You won't be lost in a large organization.
Kelly has lived this.
Kelly isn’t just a professional; she understands what it’s like to carry the responsibility of making critical healthcare decisions. Whether you're navigating it yourself or helping someone you love, she understands the fear, the vulnerability, and the weight of important decisions. And she’ll never take that trust lightly.
Local Expertise. Advocacy Wherever You Are.
A Neighbor, Not a Corporate Organization
We serve older adults and families in Pinellas County, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Largo, Dunedin, Palm Harbor, Tarpon Springs, Seminole, Safety Harbor, Tierra Verde, Madeira Beach, Treasure Island, St Pete Beach, Pass-a-Grille, and the surrounding Tampa Bay communities.
We also support families nationwide through virtual care management, care coordination, and medical advocacy, especially for adult children helping loved ones from a distance.
Why does that matter?
Because whether you are sitting in a hospital room in St. Petersburg or coordinating care for a parent across the country, you deserve an advocate who understands how the system works.
When care is local, we know the providers and facilities firsthand.
This is not cookie-cutter care coordination or senior living placement. This is personalized advocacy, grounded in real experience and delivered wherever your family needs support.
