FAQs

Questions You May Have

How is this different from what a doctor does?

Doctors focus on medical diagnosis and treatment in brief appointments. We spend 2-3 hours evaluating the whole person in their home environment, including cognitive function, home safety, nutrition, social connections, and practical daily living challenges that doctors don't have time to assess.

Do you come to the home?

Yes. We conduct assessments in your home in Pinellas County and Tampa Bay, Florida and nationwide virtually so we can evaluate the real environment and daily routines.

Will this diagnose dementia or medical conditions?

No. We identify concerning signs and refer you to appropriate specialists for a formal diagnosis. Our role is to see patterns and guide you toward the right medical professionals.

What if my parent resists being assessed?

We approach assessments respectfully, explaining we're here to support their goals (like staying home), not take over their life. Many older adults who initially resist become comfortable once they realize we're listening to their preferences.

What if I live far from my parent?

Many of our clients are long-distance caregivers. We assess your loved one either locally or virtually and conduct the follow-up consultation with you by video call or phone.

Do you accept insurance?

We don't bill insurance directly, but long-term care insurance often covers assessments. We provide documentation for reimbursement. Medicare typically doesn't cover independent care management.
